Research

How does a universe governed by physical laws give rise to the diversity of matter, life and civilization? The Ortropy Research Program investigates how forms of organization emerge, endure and become the basis for further creation.

Ortropy Research Program

We use the term Ortropy to describe a system’s realized, organized diversity and its historical continuity.

A structure’s persistence, its availability for reuse, its causal contribution and its emergence as a new generative unit are distinct questions. Each requires its own explanation and evidence.

Current lines of inquiry

  • Historical organization: what is formed, what continues, and how it can be described.
  • Recursive construction: how reuse, resource costs and losses affect subsequent accumulation.
  • Generative emergence: when a formed whole can function as a reusable unit at a new level.
Preprints available

A three-part manuscript series develops these questions through conceptual analysis and explicit finite models. Broader extensions across matter, life and civilization, including fundamental physics, remain exploratory.

A wider intellectual horizon

Eudavia’s wider agenda concerns knowledge and education, the institutions of a flourishing civilization, and intelligence in the service of human development. These questions guide future work beyond the initial programs.
